Crab stick forming and pressing equipment

Forming takes place at more than one point in a crab stick line. A sheet-forming unit prepares a continuous layer of surimi paste before cooking. Later forming and pressing equipment shapes the bundled material for the selected finished product.

YUKE quotation materials also describe active rolling and core-feed options for filled products. The right combination depends on the sheet, texture and cross-section you want to produce.

FCM-3011 crab stick pressing machine

The FCM-3011 forms rolled sheet material into a rectangular strip before transfer to the next operation. The upper and lower pressing molds use a manually opening arrangement for access, locking and cleaning.

  • Two rolled sheets, each 170 mm wide and 1.2 mm thick: formed into a strip 30 mm wide and 8–10 mm thick.
  • One rolled sheet, 260 mm wide and 1.2 mm thick: formed into a strip 30 mm wide and 10 mm thick.
  • These values apply to this machine and the described forming arrangements; they are not complete-line specifications.

Continuous sheet forming

Prepared paste is fed to the forming section and spread into a sheet for the cooking equipment. The paste-feed connection and the cooking section have to work together so that the sheet can transfer continuously.

Specify the intended sheet format and the equipment on each side of the forming unit. For an existing line, useful details include working width, transfer height and how the upstream paste supply is controlled.

Bundle pressing and section control

The pressing equipment described in the quotation template receives rolled material and forms a rectangular section for the following operation. This is a separate function from spreading uncooked paste into a sheet.

The source design includes an opening arrangement for access to the pressing area. Confirm cleaning access, the target section and the handoff to the next conveyor or cutting unit in the final equipment review.

Filled-product forming options

A filled crab stick requires the outer material and the core material to meet in a coordinated forming operation. The quotation template identifies active rolling equipment, a core-feed pump and a forming head as configuration items.

Describe the filling and the intended cross-section using a sample or drawing. Filling behavior, the required product appearance and the connection to wrapping determine what needs to be discussed in the proposal.

Information needed for an equipment upgrade

  • The material arriving at the machine: paste, cooked sheet or gathered bundle.
  • The target sheet or product section, supported by a sample or drawing.
  • Infeed and discharge heights, working width and conveyor direction.
  • The existing machine speed and control arrangement.
  • Access requirements for cleaning, inspection and changeover.
  • The next process: cooking, cutting, wrapping or another agreed operation.

Define the machine within the process

A forming-machine specification should state its exact role and the equipment it connects to. Product-specific tooling, electrical requirements, dimensions and acceptance conditions are confirmed in the project proposal.

For a new line, review forming together with cooking, cutting and wrapping. For a replacement, begin with the limitations and interfaces of the existing installation.
